Awareness + Choice = Peace (my favorite thing about coaching)
Whew, what a week.
This Shelter-in-Place ordinance means my path is looking significantly off course, and I'm assuming it is for you too.
This includes the patterns of my day and typical activities. It includes adjusting numerous expectations and anticipation for things like upcoming trips and events. It even includes changing up my living situation and home environment.
The destinations I was walking towards have shifted. In many ways, it is as if I've been given a new set of glasses in which to view my life. A wide open schedule with nowhere to rush to has gifted me a new lens to take in my experiences.

One of my most favorite things about being a Coach is the dynamic way it supports men and women to grow in self-awareness.
Is there ever a time to be more deeply aware of what we're experiencing than during a worldwide pandemic?
In coaching sessions, while it's truly magical when an "Ah-ha" moment takes place, it's what happens next that is often the most meaningful and pulls me to the edge of my seat...
If Step 1 is Awareness, then Step 2 is Choice.
Once you grow in awareness then you have the power and freedom to make a choice. Every moment in front of us is an opportunity for choice.
We now all have the choice to focus on the obstacles presented or to explore the opportunities.
Let me be clear in stating that it is absolutely okay and necessary to acknowledge that obstacles are present! This isn't about faking it. It is not a Pollyanna approach or trying to firmly assert that everything is "FINE".

This is about taking a scan of your experience. It's about taking note of the hurdles, the gaps, the challenges, the joys, the blessings, and where you want to now go in this new and uncharted territory.
Obstacles and hurdles have always been present in our lives. But with the severity of the quick and numerous changes that COVID-19 triggered in our communities, it's possible some old wounds or new lies are popping up too?
Perhaps you are...
...doubting your skills to navigate these waters?
...beating yourself up for not being prepared?
...feeling you're not good enough to lead your team or your family?
...already exhausted with everything on your plate and wondering, "How in the world will I have the strength to carry this load of responsibility for 30 more days?"
Right now (in the midst of the change) is the time to check-in with yourself.
From that place of self-awareness will flow
the actions and decisions that you deem healthy.
From that place of self-awareness will the
new destinations of success be determined.
Coaching is powerful because the role of the coach is to be your mirror. This isn’t a mirror with a critical voice. This mirror doesn’t have an ounce of comparison.
For many of us, it takes a lot of practice to gaze into a mirror and see with kind eyes. It takes consistent effort to meet our reflection with love and gentle curiosity rather than criticism, doubt, comparison, and perfectionism.
A coaching partnership can be your safe container to try this on. You can strengthen those muscles of sharing your experience and expand your self-awareness. You can choose to seize the opportunities.
I'd be happy to be your mirror and safe container to unpack your experiences during this time. Or, whenever you might be ready to come up for air...No rush.
If you're curious, it's simple to get started.
